In October 2006, Anderson Group addressed a reception of the Conservative Party conference in Bournemouth. The subject of the speech was Construction Waste, Recycling and Sustainable Development within the South East and Eastern Regions.
Six hundred delegates, amongst them Cameron, Frances Maude (Party Chairman) and Peter Ainsworth (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Sec) were interested to hear about how Anderson Group initiatives are tackling issues such as waste, landfill, traffic, emissions and sustainable development.
In November, David Cameron visited one of Anderson Group's two state of the art Soils Washing plants, which are run by subsidiary company, Eco Aggregates.
The Tory leader toured the site at Cole Green in Hertfordshire, which is recycling up to 85% of the construction waste received and producing high quality graded aggregates, most of which are returned to the construction industry.
Commenting on the operation David Cameron said:
What I have seen here today is a business that is investing money to actually run an effective business, but at the same time help the environment, and I think it's very important because we must not see the environmental agenda as one of doom, gloom and taxes. We should see the environmental agenda as one of opportunities; opportunities for individuals, but also opportunities for business and I think that is what the Anderson Group is bringing.
